Yellow Cat 301.5 mini excavator working at the top of a freshly graded red dirt pad, with gum trees behind

Level ground, left clean.Earthworks and site services in Clarkson and Perth’s northern suburbs.

Cat 301.5 on a freshly graded pad

Every build starts in the dirt.

Before a slab goes down, a shed goes up or a garden goes in, someone has to get the ground right. A pad that is out of level costs the next trade a day. A heap of spoil left behind costs you a week.

We cut, level, trim and dig with a compact Cat excavator, then leave the site the way we would want to find it. Homeowners, builders, landscapers and rural landowners across Perth’s northern suburbs call us when the ground has to be right the first time.

Cut. Level. Trim. Hand over.

From weeds to a level pad.

One lot, photographed at three stages. This is how we hand ground over.

The same lot after earthworks: a level, trimmed sand pad in front of the brick and slat fence, ready for the next trade

As found

Weeds, loose sand and no clear levels. We walk the lot with you, check the access and what is underground, and agree where the finished ground needs to sit before the machine moves.

Under the bucket

The Cat strips the surface, cuts to level and trims the edges against kerbs, fences and driveways. Being compact, it works close to walls and paving.

Handed over

A flat, trimmed pad that is ready for the next trade. Edges are clean, the site is left tidy and the spoil is dealt with as agreed in the quote.

What we do.

Earthworks and site services for homes, small developments and rural blocks across the northern suburbs.

Levelled sand pad between a kerb and a new aggregate driveway, with a boat on a trailer beyond a Colorbond fence

A flat, trimmed pad is the foundation for everything that follows. We strip, cut and level to the heights you or your builder give us, so the slab, shed or granny flat goes down true.

Typical jobs: House and extension pads, shed bases, driveway and paving subgrades, verges, backyards ready for turf or landscaping.

View from inside the excavator cab of the boom and bucket digging beside a white brick house

Compact excavation for the places a full size rig will not fit or would wreck the lawn. Dug to depth, kept neat, and backfilled when the plumber or electrician has finished.

Typical jobs: Footings and strip drains, soakwells, cable and pipe trenches, tank and bin pads, stump removal.

Yellow mini excavator at the crest of a freshly graded red dirt batter above a limestone block retaining wall

Slopes cut back to a stable angle, bases prepared for limestone block and sleeper walls, and falls set so water runs where you want it, not into the neighbour's yard or the garage.

Typical jobs: Retaining wall bases, cut and fill, drainage falls and swales, low bund walls.

Red dirt planting rows with fence posts and young trees in guards, a mini excavator working in the distance

Tracks, building pads, fence lines and planting rows on larger blocks. The Cat works across slopes and paddocks that a ute and a shovel cannot manage, and leaves a surface you can drive on.

Typical jobs: Access tracks, shed and stable pads, bunds, planting rows, fence line clearing.

Where the ground fights back, hydraulic attachments do the work. Old slabs, paving, rock and limestone get broken up and cleared, so you are not paying for a second crew to turn up.

Typical jobs: Slab and paving removal, rock and limestone cut-outs, footings in hard ground.

Scraped and trimmed sand verge beside a new exposed aggregate driveway and a Colorbond fence

The unglamorous jobs that decide how a project feels. Clearing, trimming, spreading road base or sand, dealing with spoil and leaving the site tidy for the next trade.

Typical jobs: Site clearing, spoil moved or spread, base material spread and trimmed, a final tidy before the next trade.

A compact Cat that fits where the big rigs cannot.

Suburban lots, side passages and backyards do not leave room for a full size excavator. The Cat 301.5 gets in, does the work and keeps clear of your walls, fences and paving.

Dozer blade
Levels, backfills and spreads. It is the reason pads come out flat.
A set of buckets
Trenching, bulk digging and trimming batters, with the right width for the job.
Hydraulic attachments
Fitted to the same arm for hard digging, so one machine covers more of the job.
Rubber tracks
Spread the weight, which keeps ground pressure down on lawns and finished surfaces.

Watch the ground come level.

Scroll, and the Cat works through the lumps and leaves a flat, trimmed grade behind its blade. That is the job, every time.

Questions we get asked.

Which suburbs do you work in?

We are based in Clarkson and work across Perth's northern suburbs, from Hillarys up to Yanchep and Two Rocks, and east through Wanneroo. If your job is outside that, call and ask. We will tell you straight if it is within reach.

Can you work on a small block with tight access?

Usually, yes. The Cat 301.5 is a compact excavator, so it can often get in through narrow side access and work in a backyard. Send us a photo of the access and we will confirm before we quote.

How do I get a quote?

Send us the suburb, a short description of the job and a few photos of the area and the access. If we need a closer look, we will arrange a time to see the site, then quote in writing.

Do you check for underground services before digging?

Locating underground services comes before any dig. Share any plans or known service locations with us, and we check with Dial Before You Dig before the machine goes in.

Do you take the spoil away?

It depends on the job. Some soil is spread or reused on site, some is better removed. Tell us what you want and we will quote it clearly, either way.

Can you break out old concrete, paving or rock?

Hydraulic attachments for the Cat handle old slabs, paving and tougher ground. Describe what you have and send photos so we can tell you whether it suits the machine.

Are you GST registered?

Yes. Dirtex Earthworks Pty Ltd is an active, GST registered business, so every quote and invoice shows GST clearly.

Tell us about the ground.

Send the suburb, what is going on the ground afterwards and a few photos. We will come back with questions or a quote.
